SOUTHERN LADY CODE is a collection of hilarious essays by Alabama's very own poker-playing Southern belle, Helen Ellis. The twenty-three essays in this collection travel from New York City to the Deep South and back, from party antics and ballgowns worthy of a drag queen. A truly original work by one of the world's truly unique people!
THIS COPY (shown below) was hand signed by Helen Ellis on the title page at the store. It is a new, unread first edition opened only for signing and comes with a certificate authenticating the signature. Published in April, 2019 by Doubleday Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
HELEN ELLIS (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) is one of America's best writers of hurt-your-tummy-laugh-out-loud funny books, but also one of the slowest. She took fifteen years to come up with American Housewife, after we hosted her first farce on college sorority life, Eating the Cheshire Cat. In between and still, she is a successful high stakes tournament poker player, paying off her grad school debt with the proceeds of just one winning check. The talented author Colson Whitehead hired Helen to coach him in the game and wrote about her in his memoir. Thank you Helen Ellis for signing our books.
