JONATHAN SAFRON FOER (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) was encouraged to pursue a writing career by Joyce Carol Oates while he was a student of hers at Princeton. He has since won multiple writing awards, become a New York Times best seller, and had his first two novels adapted to the screen. He wrote his college thesis on his maternal grandfather who was a holocaust survivor.
